When I first saw Toy Story 2 as a child and heard this song I ran into my bedroom crying and apologised to all of my soft toys for neglecting them! Randy Newman is such an amazing songwriter and this is definitely one of my favourites. The song has a different meaning for me now; my beloved grandma Maureen had Alzheimer's and died ten years ago at the age of 77. I still miss her constantly, she was such a kind and loving person, and I always sing this song with her in my mind and heart.
I'm gradually working out this whole audio recording thing. This is a live take with the voice and audio recorded on separate tracks; unfortunately the piano keys are a bit noisy but I've reduced it where I could.
